The White House and OSHA Joint Worker Protection Initiative to Address Extreme Heat

The Biden administration, in a joint statement with The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced on 9/21/2021 they will begin developing a federal rule to protect workers from heat related illness.

As a part of this – OSHA will begin prioritizing onsite inspections in industries whose workers perform their jobs outdoors in extreme heat.

OSHA’s website has a section under Safety and Health Topics relating to the creation of a heat illness prevention plan; NOW is a good time to start working on your company policy for next summer.
